Aspen, Colorado’s closing day proved to be a great one with up to a foot of snow for riders at Snowmass and Aspen Mountain. Skiers and riders at Snowmass enjoyed 10 inches of fresh powder, Aspen Mountain had 12 inches and Aspen highlands had 11 inches within the last 24 hours.
Snowmass closed the season with their annual Schneetag event. This event is always entertaining as teams attempt to float across a giant pond in their own hand made crafts.
The 6th annual Schneetag event featured 11 teams of four. These teams needed to pilot their craft down a slope at the base of the superpipe on Snowmass by Spider Sabich Race Area and attempt to float across a 75 by 20 foot pond.
These themed teams performed skits before descending down the slope. Teams were judged on creativity, skit performance, craft construction and success in riding the course. Participants had the chance to win the GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition, concert tickets, Smith Optics goggles, Helly Hansen gear, local restaurant gift certificates and other great prizes.
