The Webby Awards have nominated for a 2013 Webby Award. Utah-based digital creative studio Rally Interactive designed the website for their local resort. The Webby Awards honor international awards for excellence with the Internet. This past year The Webby Awards received 11,000 entries from 50 states and more than 60 countries worldwide. Snowbird is one of five nominees for Top Website in the Corporate Communication category along with Google, Heineken, McDonalds and Warby Parker.

When designing and developing, Rally first considered the need of accessing information through smartphones. As many skiers and snowboarders want to check their information on the go, Rally didn’t forget this important factor.

“A lot of credit goes to the Snowbird folks for allowing Rally to apply the Gretzky Principle, which is to skate to where the puck is going to be, not to where it’s been. They supported us all the way in a mobile-first strategy.” Thomas Cooke, Managing Partner at Rally.

Annually millions of visitors use for snow reports, weather conditions, buying lift tickets, book lodging and plan vacations to the resort. The redesigned website offers users multiple versions to view on tablets, smartphones or computers.

“We wanted the Snowbird site re-design to embrace an elegant minimalism that focuses on crisp typography, a clean layout, and a few subtle yet playful animated interactions,” explained Ben Cline, Rally’s Creative Director.

The websites design features have drawn attention with the simple, interactive mountain-shaped graphics. Snowbird wanted to lead the digital innovation and help give the consumers everything they need.

“We selected Rally Interactive to design and build our new website and mobile platform because they have consistently anticipated what the consumer will want tomorrow, not just what they want today,” said Dave Fields, Vice President of Resort Operations and Marketing Director at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort. “This foresight combined with great design skills created an amazing new that represents our company and experience very effectively.”
