Aspen to Open for Summer Operations on Memorial Day Weekend

Aspen Mountain will open for weekend operations on Saturday, May 25 with the Silver Queen Gondola. Full, daily summer activities will open Saturday, June 15. Snowmass will open for daily operations on June 22.

New This Year

 

New this year, the Elk Camp chairlift and Elk Camp Gondola’s days of operation have been extended to seven days a week. These lifts deliver bikers and hikers to a recently expanded, extensive network of trails.

Snowmass will kick off their new evening activities with Valhalla Nights, an extension of the popular Ullr Nights that premiered this winter at Elk Camp. The Elk Camp Gondola will run until 7 p.m. for biking, hiking, dinner, drinks, live music, a bonfire, movies, a Stryder Park and a kid’s playground. Valhalla nights events will be held July 12 and 19 and August 2, 16, 23 and 30.

Lift service will continue on weekends through September at Snowmass for the first time allowing for great biking and hiking. The Elk Camp Gondola and Elk Camp Chair will run on Saturdays and Sundays, September 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29 for lift served mountain biking and hiking.

 

Aspen Mountain

 

Starting June 15, The Silver Queen Gondola resumes daily service operating from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regular activities include the climbing wall, disc golf, obstacle course and other family activities throughout the summer. Starting the weekend of June 15th classical music will return on Saturdays and Bluegrass Sundays will begin and continue through September 1 at the Sundeck.

The Sundeck will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. offering a full lunch menu with grilled items, fresh sandwiches, vegetarian dishes, homemade pizza, salads, desserts and beverages.

 

Snowmass

 

From June 22 to September 2 the Elk Camp Gondola and Elk Camp Chairlift will be open daily. The gondola will operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the chairlift will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Some of the activities available include a system of downhill and cross-country mountain bike trails, hiking trails, bike rentals and bike instruction.

Located at the top of the Elk Camp Gondola, the Elk Camp Restaurant will be open daily for food service daily from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Summer Events

 

A four-stage, three-day mountain bike race in Snowmass appropriately titled Master of the Mass is scheduled to take place July 12 to 14. Registration is open at www.aspensnowmass.com/master.

Saturday, August 3 The Power of Four Mountain Bike Race will take place. To create a challenging course, this race combines four ski areas; Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk. The diversity of the terrain and tackling the four distinct mountains creates this one of a kind event.

This summer Aspen and Snowmass will premiere the Power of Four 50K Trail run on Sunday, August 4.
