For the first time ever, the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee is designated to present the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic medals on May 30th, 2013.  As is tradition, the Olympic medals will be presented a year before the Sochi Games in St. Petersburg during the 11th SportAccord International Convention.  The ceremony is a notable achievement for Sochi 2014 considering that it will be the first instance of giving the awards to the public.  A record-setting number of medals are expected to be produced in honor of Russia’s national identity and character; an estimated 1,300.   Alongside famous athletes and other public figures, President and CEO of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, Dmitry Chernyshenko, will attend the medals presentation ceremony in St. Petersburg.
