As the biggest winter kick-off competition and party in sunny SoCal, Big Bear Mountain Resort announces the Hot Dawgz and Hand Rails event in it’s 10th annual celebration on Saturday, September 21. With over 40 pro snowboarders across the globe, the competition and progression rises every year with Bear Mountain Professional Team Riders Dylan Alito, Zak Hale, Brandon Hobush, Desiree Melancon and Scotty Vine, amongst many other top riders.

Presented by Bear Mountain and Red Bull, the competition is made possible in the warm California weather with over 140 tons of man-made snow covered by urban-style steel features, which will be available for the public to ride in the Red Bull Plaza at Bear Mountain this winter season. In addition, season passes can be purchased for the 2013-2014 season at Bear Mountain for a discounted price.

Judges will decide who takes home the $15,000 worth of cash prizes including the $10,000 prize purse for men’s overall winner and $1,000 for women’s overall winner. The jibber with the best trick will take home $500. Customized by Fusion of Ideas, the winners will be presented with customized iPad Minis and Go Pro cameras.

Beginning at 9 a.m. and free to the public, the HDHR event has entertainment for all ages with live DJ’s, dozens of vendors full of giveaways, a front row view of the competition and a massive supply of hot dogs. Participants have the opportunity to enjoy a special hot dog deal which includes a hot dog, chips and a domestic beer for just $10.

Named as an MV2 Artist to Watch, the band Five Knives will perform on the Red Bull Tour Bus. A featured artist on the 2013 Vans Warped Tour, Five Knives has been recognized in the music world by many, including opening for Smashing Pumpkins in 2012.

“From up-and-comers to seasoned riders, the 10th anniversary lineup is bigger and better than ever,” says Rio Tanbara, Director of Marketing for Bear Mountain. “Each year, riders take the contest to a new level, and we can’t wait to see what new tricks they have in store.”
