The countdown to the Winter Olympics in Sochi Russia has begun. Copper Mountain and the U.S. Ski Team have been prepping and training thanks to the U.S. Ski Team Speed Center, the only full-length training facility of its kind this early in the season. Halley O’Brien takes us on the course during the first part of this two-day First Tracks event.
Day two of First Tracks takes us through Copper Mountain Village where the athletes were celebrated with a parade and pep rally before the Team Naming Ceremony. Loyal U.S. Ski Team fanatics lined the parade route with homemade signs, pom poms, noisemakers and a lot of genuine excitement. Finally, the moment everyone was waiting for arrived and the U.S. Ski Team was announced. After a few photo ops and autographs, The Swon Brothers of NBC’s The Voice capped off the night with covers of fan favorites and a few original songs.
