Seven backcountry skiers were killed in an avalanche on Saturday in the Northern Alps mountain range in the Toyama Prefecture, central Japan.

The avalanche swept away the skiers about 11am on Mt.Masago, which, according to China Daily, is a 2860-meter peak. The seven skiers included four men and three women, were rushed to the hospital by helicopters, but there were no survivors. The avalanche was said to be 98 feet wide and 1,968 feet wide according to UPI. Authorities are still searching for more skiers who are presumed to have been caught in the same avalanche.

This horrible online slots tragedy in Japan demonstrates just how dangerous avalanches can be and how necessary proper avalanche training is. Our hearts go out to the families of those skiers in Japan.
