Winter is finally here, and long overdue. California suffered from the driest January on record, so the recent storm front has Sierra Nevada locals jumping for joy. Mammoth Lakes got pounded all weekend with fresh snow, creating a solid base layer allowing the Mammoth Mountain Resort to open up 100% of its terrain.

Winter is definitely back in the Eastern Sierra. Thanks in part to its high elevation, this weekend’s storm system dropped more than 3 feet of fresh snow on Mammoth, bringing the base depth at the summit up to 70″.
