Freeskiing pioneer Sarah Burke will be honored in Canada’s 2014 Sports Hall of Fame. The late Sarah Burke was a world champion and four-time X-Games gold medalist in Women’s Ski Halfpipe. Sarah paved the way for the Women’s Freeski Halfpipe to be included in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games. Sarah passed away in a tragic halfpipe accident in 2012 but her legacy lives on as she will be honored forever in Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.
Also honored in Canada’s 2014 Sports Hall of Fame include ski jumper Horst Bulau, cross-country skier Pierre Harvey, hockey player Geraldine Heaney, figure skater Elizabeth Manley and rugby player Gareth Rees, according to The Globe and Mail.
