We are sorry to report that Canadian freeskier, JP Auclair, and Swedish skier, Andres Fransson, have been killed in an avalanche in Patagonia. The two skiers were reported missing Monday, September 29th, and their bodies were found lifeless on Tuesday.
Their bodies were spotted by a Swedish hiker on Mount San Lorenzo, the border region between Chile and Argentina in South America.
The two professional skiers had last posted on social media about how excited they were for the Patagonian adventure.
“Road trip down south with a great crew. Back at it with @andreasfransson99 @bjarnesalen and @danielronnback for #apogeeskiing and very much looking forward to the days ahead,” JP Auclair last posted. He was 37-years-old.
While the two went down doing what they love, the loss is painful for the ski industry today, losing two legends of the sport and amazing human beings.
The Ski Channel extends our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the victims.
