Join the High Fives Foundation on Friday, October 17 for the world premiere of this year’s B.A.S.I.C.S. program service documentary “#KnowYourPark.” California 89 will host the event in their unique back lawn viewing area located in downtown Truckee, CA. Admission to the event is donation-based for all attendees and doors will open at 7 p.m. with the first ever screening of #KnowYourPark at 8 p.m.
“#Know Your Park” is a public service announcement, filmed and edited in a documentary format to educate snow sport athletes of all ages about the inherent risks and rewards of skiing and riding within the Terrain Park. Five core values preached throughout the film include: Know Your Protection, Know Your Conditions, Know Your Terrain Park Features, Know Your Ability and Know Your Etiquette. The High Fives Foundation believes these values are the building blocks that will help educated athletes and promote smart decision-making.
The premiere will also include two other High Fives original films, “The Giray Dadali Story” and “The Cody Walker Story.” Each film looks to raise awareness for athletes who have suffered life-altering injuries while pursuing a dream in the winter action sports community. Money raised supports a variety of High Fives Foundation endeavors including the purchase of rehabilitative and adaptive equipment as well as funding for alternative healing and therapies.
The High Fives Foundation has helped 65 athletes to date since its inception in 2009. More information on the event can be found here.
