On Saturday, May 16th, extreme athletes Dean Potter and Graham Hunt passed away after attempting a BASE jumping stunt in Yosemite off of Taft Point. The jump was made just before dusk approximately 3,500 ft above the floor of Yosemite Valley.

After being reported missing by friends late Saturday, the two bodies were found by helicopter search on Sunday morning.  It is unclear as to what exactly went wrong during the flight, however parachutes were not pulled by either jumper before hitting the rocks. Potter has passed away at just 43-years-old.

The New Hampshire native will always be remembered for his incredible accomplishments as a free climber, speed climber, BASE jumper, and for his many highlining stunts. He also was well known for bringing his dog whisper on some of his wingsuit flights as well.
