El Niño Delivers More Than 5ft to the Slopes of Ski Portillo, Chile

With this weekend’s storm covering South American slopes with more than five and a half feet of new snow Ski Portillo, Chile is preparing for an epic ski-in-summer season. Ski Portillo is set to open on July 18, and the recent storm that covered Portillo’s iconic ski runs is stirring anticipation and excitement amongst skiers and boarders across North America. An all-inclusive Ski Portillo vacation also provides the perfect summer getaway to escape the summer heat.

“Over the last seven days we received five and a half feet of snow, and half of that came in the last 48 hours,” said Rebecca Armstrong, Marketing Manager at Ski Portillo.
 
With an El Niño season forecast for the southern hemisphere, the season is expected to be colder and wetter than average, great news for skiers and snowboarders who want optimal snow conditions.

Prices at Ski Portillo begin at US$2,100 for a ski week at the classic Hotel Portillo or US $1,390 at the Octagon Lodge, located steps from Hotel Portillo; or US $990 at the hostel-style Inca Lodge.  Rates are per person based on double occupancy and include seven-nights’ accommodation, seven days lift tickets, four meals daily and more.
