Austria’s Raich wins Super-Combined at Val D’Isere

Olympic champion Benjamin Raich of Austria won the super-combined at Val D’Isere on Friday, edging out Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Grange and fellow Austrian Marcel Hirscher.  It’s the second consecutive victory for Raich, who took first in the men’s giant slalom at Beaver Creek last weekend.  Raich is building quite the resume.  The victory was the 32nd of his World Cup career, to go along with giant slalom and slalom gold at the Turin Olympics.  American superstar Bode Miller crashed and burned on the difficult first slalom run.  Bode was certainly not alone, as the slalom portion of the super-combined took out Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindal and Didier Cuche of Switzerland.
