There’s the Winter Dew Tour and the Winter X Games, but when it comes to deciding who gets to punch their ticket for the Olympics, the only tour that matters is the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix Series.  Defending champion Louie Vito claimed the opening leg of the series in Copper Mountain this past weekend.  Vito (pictured) used amplitude and more amplitude to break a string of slow starts in prior years.  "The last two years I haven’t made finals at the first Grand Prix and that’s kinda been a bummer. But it’s nice going into the rest of the season with the win and knowing that you have that accomplishment," Vito said. "Once you get that first taste of a win, it’s hard to settle for anything less than that."  The victory is one for Louie and Stratton Mountain School, the Vermont breeding ground for future snowboarding stars.  Louie reppin’ the class of 2006!
