Friday, Vail’s Lindsey Vonn blew away the competition in Garmisch-Partenkirschen, Germany.  Vonn stood in third place after the first run, trailing her chief rival, Germany’s Maria Riesch.  "I was pretty happy with my first run and in the second run Maria was winning so I had to really attack," Vonn said. Attack she did. A flat out dominating second run led to her wide margin of victory over Riesch.

Tech Head Coach Trevor Wagner credited Vonn’s Jedi mind skills. "Second run she skied the top smart and then figured out where she could punch it. Some people went out and she capitalized on it," Wagner said.

Lindsey widens her overall World Cup lead.  She now stands 134 points ahead of Riesch. The races this weekend (there’s a Super G tomorrow) lead up to the World Championships next week.  Lindsey’s feeling good.  "I feel like I have a lot of confidence going in to World Championships. I think for me the main thing is to try and stay as fresh as I can and just keep riding every day."
