U.S. Freestyle Ski Team flier Ryan St. Onge (Winter Park, CO), took his second gold of the season in a World Cup aerials event held in downtown Moscow this morning. The action took place on a man-made ramp, and due to the central location, drew tens of thousands of fans.

“St. Onge absolutely crushed his second jump, making it a huge win for him,” said Head Aerials Coach, Matt Christensen. “This is really the future of our sport. The crowd here this year is even bigger than last year.”

St. Onge struck gold just two weeks ago at the World Cup event in Deer Valley, UT, marking a strong train of consistency heading into the Olympics next season, in Vancouver.

Next in line for the Americans was Scotty Barhke (Tahoe, CA) in eleventh. Belarussian Dmitri Dashinski took the silver medal, and Stanislav Kravshuk the bronze.

It was a rough ride for the American lady aerialists, as U.S. Freestyle Ski Team star Emily Cook (Belmont, MA) had a bit of crash landing. “I took a little crash, but it’s OK. I’m happy for Ryan on the win!” Cook said, in her usual upbeat fashion.

Chinese women nabbed the top two spots on the podium, with Mengtao Xu taking first, and Shuang Chen grabbing second. Aussie Lydia Lassila finished third.
