Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska is playing host to a slew of big events this spring. First off, are the World Telemark Freeskiing Championships and the sixth Annual Jeff Nissman Telepalooza Festival, starting April 1, 2009. No fooling around here. Alyeska means business when it comes to fun, and is launching the five-day celebration with a series of clinics, races, ski demos, live music, games and more.

The World Championships will wow fans from April 1st through 3rd, and will showcase the world’s best tele skiers on Alyeska’s steep and varied terrain. Athletes will be judged on line choice, fluidity, control and aggressiveness.

The action continues with Telepalooza over the weekend, which will feature ‘fun races’ like an Uphill/Downhill, Dual Slalom and Classic Race. If you have kids, bring em, as Alyeska will hold plenty of events to keep them busy. Once you’ve had your fill of snow and sun, sidle up at the Sitzmark Bar and Grill, for nightly parties with live music, Wild West-themed costume contests, and door prizes with $30K in adventures, gear and gift certificates.

If you’re feeling generous, note that proceeds from this year’s charity raffle will go towards the non-profit group, Friends of the Chugach Avalanche Education Center in honor of Jeff Nissman.
