12 athletes competed for the top spot on the podium in the Men’s Freeski Slopestyle Finals of the Dew Tour iON Mountain Championships in Breckenridge, Colorado, but it was Russ Henshaw who emerged victorious with an 84.50. Henshaw’s winning run featured a lipslide 270, 270 onto the wallride, left double cork 1080, right 900, switch 270 to switch off, switch double cork 900, and a right double cork 1260.
Henshaw was thrilled with his performance as he stated, “I am stoked that I walked away with the win. It was pretty challenging conditions, but I think I had a bit of an advantage because I am a bit bigger than everyone. I thought the course was super sick. It had a real good flow to it.”
The women took to the slopestyle course for the Ski Slopestyle Finals earlier with Kaya Turski landing a first place run despite the weather. She started with a switch on front swap on the first rainbow box, followed by a disaster lipslide switch out on the second feature. Turski continued on to land a switch unnatural 360 on the first jump, into a switch 540. She finished out with a 270 onto the second rainbow box, a 540 and a switch 720 on the final jump.
“There’s a lot of great talent coming up. The young girls are definitely stepping up and keeping me on my toes,” commented Turski and she’s “had a great time at the Dew Tour.”
