Members of Crystal Mountain's Rescue Team and an avalanche dog named Newman are responsible for the heroic rescue of a female skier that became trapped under the snow on Tuesday afternoon. After receiving over 40 inches of new snow over the course
of 30 hours, the region is seeing extremely volatile avalanche conditions throughout the Cascade Mountains.
Paul Baugher, the director of the ski patrol, told the local King 5 News that the avalanche occurred around 2:00pm.
The woman was completely buried, while two other skiers that were riding alongside her were only partially covered, and able to dig themselves out.
Rescue personnel arrived on the scene within five minutes, and quickly found the location of the buried skier. Fortunately, the woman was only trapped for ten minutes total, and was recovered in perfect condition!
