Heavenly has just announced the grand opening of its halfpipe for the first time in five seasons this Saturday. With the help of Snow Park Technologies, Heavenly was able to create the 18-foot-tall and 450-foot-long halfpipe with a 16.5-degree angle in a record 9 days. Heavenly’s halfpipe is currently the only one in South Lake Tahoe and fits in well with Heavenly’s vibrant atmosphere.
The hyped halfpipe ribbon cutting ceremony will feature a DJ, giveaways, EpicMix Photos with the Heavenly Angels, and free swag from Red Bull and Nature Valley. Kyle Smaine, Heavenly High Roller Team member, will kick off the ceremony with a short exhibition starting at noon and then guests will have the opportunity to show off their moves. There will also be other local pro skiers and snowboarders in attendance meeting guests and signing posters. The team members will feature Brent Whipple, Natalie Vitalie, Nick Geisen, and Chris Geisen.
The new halfpipe is accessed via the Canyon Express Chairlift on the California side of the mountain inside High Roller Terrain Park, which is also opening for the first time this season this weekend.
Pete Sonntag, Heavenly’s general manager, is stoked about the new addition as he commented, “With Lake Tahoe as a backdrop, this halfpipe will feature, hands-down, the best views from any halfpipe in the U.S. Heavenly is committed to providing the most high-energy atmosphere possible, and the return of the halfpipe and the addition we’re putting into our parks really shows Heavenly’s ‘All In’ attitude.”
High Roller Park has been re-designed for the season with some fun rails, boxes, and other jib features for its guests. The halfpipe has been designed to accommodate skiers and riders of all ability levels and encourage a great learning environment.
