Good news coming from Lindsey Vonn's camp. The Olympic and World Cup champ underwent a very successful surgery on Sunday at the .
The surgery was led by Dr. Bill Sterett, the Head Physician of the U.S. Women's Alpine Ski Team. Once the procedure concluded Sterett remarked that he is highly optimistic that Lindsey will see a full recovery.
Sterett explained, saying, “The overall success rate for ACL/MCL surgery is very good. Modern surgical te
chniques combined with aggressive rehabilitation will help Lindsey make a full recovery. She will do everything in her power to return as quickly as possible to competitive skiing.”
Vonn received the surgical procedure in order to repair a torn ACL and MCL (anterior cruciate ligament/medial collateral ligament) caused in February 5th's crash at the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships in Schladming, Austria. The skier also suffered a lateral tibial plateau fracture.
While a full prognosis is still a little ways out, it is nice to know that Vonn is currently resting comfortably and on the path to recovery!
