If the amazing season of snowfall Whistler has been having and the currently awesome conditions aren’t enough to get you off the couch and out to the mountain, the brand new, high-speed, “Crystal Ridge Express” may give just one more reason to take a trip out to Whistler.

A long two weeks have come and gone, and Whistler Blackcomb’s interactive “You Name It” competition has finally come to a close. After receiving an overwhelming number of entries, Whistler staff’s decision was fairly easy.

“The Crystal Zone is truly an iconic area on Blackcomb Mountain and our decision was made easy with so many submissions to name the new quad the Crystal Ridge Express,” said Stuart Rempel, Senior VP of Marketing and Sales. “The overwhelming number of entries in the You Name It competition is a testament to how passionate our guests are about skiing and riding the Crystal Zone. We are extremely excited to introduce both the New Crystal Ridge Express and the new Harmony Six Express.”

With so many guests wishing to pay homage to the lift’s original name (Old Harmony Express), a draw had to be conducted to decide a winner. Whistler native Kevin Welsh was that lucky man. As the winner, Kevin will receive his choice of either a 2013/14 Unlimited Winter Season Pass, or a $1,000 Whistler Blackcomb Gift Card. As if that wasn’t enough of a prize, Kevin and three friends will have the opportunity to take the first public ride in the new high-speed chairlift.

The new quad chairlift will be 1,708 meters (5,604 feet) in length, with a vertical rise of 535 meters (1,755 feet). The new lift line is decidedly more efficient. It will begin along the Blackcomb Glacier Road, which will allow easier access to more trails.
