The semi-finals of the 31st annual Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships have officially gone in the books as Spencer O’Brien of Canada and Torstein Horgmo of Norway took the top spots to advance to the US Open slopestyle finals on March 1. The world’s top snowboarders had an unreal day of riding featuring blue skies, solid conditions, and an unreal performance for the fans.

O’Brien whipped out some gnarly tricks in her winning run for the women’s field including a frontside boardslide, MINI wallride to gap to frontside lipslide, 50-50 frontside 180 out, switch backside 180 mute grab, and a frontside 360 to backside 540 indy grab. Just behind her were American Jamie Anderson and Canadian Brooke Voigt. The semi-finals featured 21 women from 11 different countries that gave it their all in a battle that would leave the top six riders to advance to the finals.

The men’s side featured just as much excitement and talent as Norwegian Torstein Horgmo took the top spot with his run that included a switch backside 270 on, MINI wallride to switch frontside boardslide 270 out, switch lipslide 270 out, switch backside 900 mute grab, and a frontside double cork 1080 mute grab followed by a huge backside double cork 1080 indy grab. Grabbing a close second and third were Eric Willett and Yuki Kadono. 42 men trailing from 9 different countries competed for the day with the elite 12 solidifying their spot in the Burton US Open slopestyle finals.
