The fourth annual X Game Tignes is poised to make its debut across France’s snow-covered slopes on Wednesday, where 150 of the world’s most elite skiers and snowboarders will descend upon the French resort for the European edition of ESPN legendary competition. Fans can expect to see some of their favorite freestyle competitors, including the likes of Kaya Turski, Russ Henshaw, Nick Goepper, David Wise, Torin Yater-Wallace, Simon Dumont, Mark McMorris, Jamie Anderson, Louie Vito, and Kelly Clark go head to head in superpipe, slopestyle and big air competitions spanning from March 20-22.

While heavy snowfall forced athletes to cut Monday’s training short, the clouds have since cleared to reveal blue bird skies and ideal weather going into the first day of qualifiers. According to the riders, conditions are excellent across the event’s superpipe and slopestyle course.

During an afternoon conference, athletes Kaya Turski, Kevin Rolland and Lisa Zimmermann discussed their mindset going into the fourth X Games Tignes.

“It won’t be easy, but I’m ready to turn the tables on this,” exclaimed Kevin Rolland. The skier recently bounced back from a knee injury last season, and is one of the favorites going into the first round of competition.

Kaya Turski discussed the impact of competing against rival Lisa Zimmermann (the only girl to land a double cork 1260°), explaining, “Fresh competition forces me to stay on my toes. It helps me stay at the highest level.”

Action sports fans across Europe are invited to join the excitement and cheer on their favorite athlete during the three days of competition. X Games Tignes is free to the public, and promises to be even bigger and better than last year! The 2012 X Games Tignes saw historic crowds, which surpassed 103,500! With so much fanfare surrounding the event already, record attendance numbers are expected for the 2013 edition.
