Skiing when mainstream Tuesday night as extreme skiing star Rory Bushfield blew away the other four divers on ABC”s new diving with the stars show, Splash. Bushfield took down Keisha Knight Pulliam, Louie Anderson, Katherine Webb and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Next weeks episode will include: Drake Bell, Chuy Bravo from Chelsey Lately, Nicole Eggert, Mdamukong Suh and Kendra Wilkinson.
Rory Bushfield who starred in The Ski Channel”s, The Sound Of Winter along with his late wife and industry love, Sarah Burke has spent the last year grieving. But in the last few months has done a stint on the Nitro Circus live tour and now Splash. He looked great on television and it didn”t look like any of the other contestants would have a chance at beating him.
The show which featured Judges David Boudia and Steve Foley, Commentators Joey Lawrence and Charissa Thompson and Trainer Greg Louganis opened with a catchy high dive intro, some synchronized swimming that went X-rated for a moment and all the bells and whistles of Dancing With The Stars.
Like early American Idol made changes, Splash will likely make some modifications. The 2 panel judging is far less online casino interactive than the standard fare of singing and dancing shows. There is certainly room for some improvement when forced lines like ”You were about as balanced as a one legged man in a butt kicking contest” were being slung. The best quote of the night was from Catherine Webb who proudly said, “I”m a media sensation.”
Rory”s dive lit the place up and then when judge Steve Foley who frequently had to get out of his chair to show the world he could do a standing backflip, gave Rory a 7.5 the audience boo”s. Judge David Boudia gave him an 8.5 and that was enough to win the night. The night didn”t belong to Keisha Knight Pulliam who was the lone diver to be sent home through some non-transparent judges voting blended with audience desire algorithm that was not shown to the audience. Her dive was not nearly the worst dive of the night and she should have made it through.
