Jamie Anderson represented the USA and South Lake Tahoe with a sensational silver medal finish in Friday’s snowboard slopestyle competition at this year’s X Games Tignes. The defending 2011 and 2012 gold medal champ was obviously gunning for the number one spot, but was bumped by Norwegian Silje Norendal. Kjersti Oestgaard Buaas rounded out the podium in third. On the men’s side, Eric Willett, of the U.S. Snowboarding team took fourth.

Anderson threw down a high scoring first run that showcased her technical ability and style. Unfortunately, she fell during her second run and was unable to exhibit her usual finesse during the third — paving the way for Norendal to steal away the gold. Similar to Julia Mancuso back in the states, Anderson’s bag was lost by airport personnel, forcing her to ride on unfamiliar equipment.

“I’m happy,” said Anderson. “I am stoked for Silje. She rode really well. It was a really progressive event and really fun to be a part of. I wish I got to land my 720, but I was on all new gear. My board bag has been lost for like two weeks and it’s a little challenging to break in all new boots and bindings. I am thankful to get some runs and be safe and sound. It was a really good event; it just wasn’t my day to win. It was meant to be for Silja and I’m a big believer in reality and I am happy for her.”
