The World Ski and Snowboard Festival is set to arrive in less than two weeks, which means that a huge storm of sport, music, art, and fashion will take over Whistler, BC for 10 days and nights. There will be no time to rest as the festival will feature elite ski and snowboard competitions where winners will be recognized, free concerts from some of today’s hottest and trendiest bands, fashion shows, après and parties, and the inspirational State of the ART.

State of the ART first started gaining popularity when it entered WSSF in 2009. Now the exhibit will run for the full 10-day duration of WSSF. The free exhibit is characterized as a unique platform where mountain town creativity and expression can flourish.

State of the ART features over 50 artists in the Grand Foyer of the Whistler Conference Centre. There is a nice mix of new and returning artists from all over the world with a mindset of pushing the boundaries to illustrate their innovative and creativity in urban, surf, and snow. All participants showcased in State of the ART can be found at: www.wssf.com/event/state-art.

State of the ART will kick off at WSSF with their Opening Party Friday, April 12 where the gallery will be open to the public from 12pm-6pm April 12-20 and then on Sunday, April 21 from 10am-2pm. The State of the ART gallery is free all day until 8pm where tickets must be purchased to enter this area because of the evening gala events.

For those people who have prior commitments and can’t make it out in person, WSSF will offer an online store so no one has to miss out. The online store goes live today and will showcase all the same works of art featured at the actual State of the ART exhibit through April 21. Anyone interested in checking out the exhibit or even taking a piece of work home can visit the store at www.artstore.wssf.com.

State of the ART proudly supports Playground Builders, Zero Ceiling, and Whistler Animals Galore. One charitable piece of the exhibit will feature eight gifted artists who will be creating an innovative media piece using only a pair of TOMS shoes, TOMS sunglasses, and a canvas. All the items will be auctioned off at the Opening Party with proceeds benefiting the Playground Builders, who aim to raise enough money by the end of the Festival to fund the construction of an entire playground.

WSSF is set to be 10 full days of pure fun and enjoyment so don’t miss out!
