The World Championships have us on our toes. With a nail-biting Giant Slalom, Anna Fenninger battled it out on the slopes and took home Gold. With a bobble on the lower portion of the course, Fenninger had enough strength and mental toughness to recover and finish the race 1.40 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Fenninger has racked up three medals, two gold, one silver, at the World Championships! As Fenninger said after the win: “It is really nice and there are so many emotions. Today it’s unbelievable that this happened. I gave everything and I won everything and it’s just a great day. I had a big mistake and I knew it cost me a lot of time so I had to risk everything at the bottom of the course. When I crossed the finish line and saw the result, it was unbelievable.”
Viktoria Rebensburg and Jessica Lindell Vikarby were ecstatic about their runs and receiving their first World Championship medals. “I’m really happy, I’ve tried for this seven times at the World Championships and three times at the Olympics to get a medal, so I’m really pleased with how things worked out today,” said Lindell-Vikarby. Unfortunately, for team USA Mikaela Shiffrin and Lindsey Vonn did not come within medal contention, placing eighth and fourteenth. Congrats to all the ladies who competed! We look forward to watching the men vie for a medal and podium spot on the Giant Slalom course today!
