It’s back… Red Bull Cold rush returns this year March 23-26th, February 3-6th was the previously slated date, in Revelstoke; a new venue for the much anticipated competition. Cold Rush competitors bring their slopestyle, big mountain, cliffs, and alpine ski touring. The three-day competition will bring big names out to compete for bragging rights and a shot at the $36,000 prize purse.
The crew at Revelostoke has been working hard to create this skier’s dream playground. The six-man crew is creating epic and creative lines for the riders including in order for them to have the option of hitting three features at the beginning of their run, mid mountain, or at the bottom of the course. Canadian Riley Leboe has been given the task of preparing a safe, but incredible course. The invited athletes have put their input in and we can be sure that Leboe is constructing an innovative course that every athlete will want to play on. We are excited to see the type of skiing go down in March, but for now, let’s take a look at some of the highlights from the previous years.
Unfortunately, due to lack of snow and warm temperatures, the contest has been postponed to mid March. Scott Jewett, the National Event Manager at Red Bull said: “Recent warming has impacted our venues in remote areas of the mountain over the last few days. Safety for athletes and delivering a premium, progressive ski contest are our ultimate goals for Red Bull Cold Rush. Unfortunately, current conditions will not allow for either.” We look forward to the competition in the upcoming month.
Below is the list of heavy hitters that will be participating and throwing it down this year:
