Shaun White Bows Out Of Slopestyle Olympic Event

Shaun White has announced that he will not be competing in the 2014 Winter Olympic Snowboarding Slopestyle Event. The course has been said to be extremely challenging and dangerous to some, Shaun has said that the risk of injury was too high to compete and that he wanted to focus on winning the Halfpipe event, again!

Shaun states, “after much deliberation with my team, I have made the decision to focus solely on trying to bring home the third straight gold medal in halfpipe for Team USA. The difficult decision to forego slopestyle is not one I take lightly as I know how much effort everyone has put into holding the slopestyle event for the first time in Olympic history, a history I had planned on being  part of.” (U.S. Snowboarding)

After he announced that he was pulling out of the slopestyle event, lots of fans and athletes took to twitter to put in their two cents. What do you guys think about Shaun’s ‘bowing out’ of the slopestyle event? Take to twitter or facebook, tag @theskichannel and let us know what you think!
