Aspen Mountain and Snowmass set to open Nov. 27

As temperatures continue to drop in the high-country, Aspen Snowmass received more snow atop the surrounding peaks last night marking the highly-anticipated approach of the 2014-15 winter ski season. Coming off a great season last year, Aspen Mountain and Snowmass have officially announced they will open the winter season on November 27. Nearby Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk also released some good news, announcing they will open December 13.

To celebrate Aspen Snowmass’ opening weekend, the 2014 Audi FIS Ski World Cup will take place  Nov. 29-30. Some of the greatest female racers in the world will gather to compete on Aspen’s renowned racing venue. Giant Slalom racing will take place on Saturday at 10:15am, followed by the finals at 1:15pm. On Sunday, the Slalom races start at 10am concluding with the finals at 1pm. As always, spectators can watch the racing from the base of Lift 1A for prime viewing.

Also part of opening weekend, Aspen Snowmass will  kick-off the Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert Series with a free concert featuring Reel Big Fish, Saturday, Nov. 29 at the base of Aspen Mountain in the Upper Gondola Plaza. World Cup Awards will take place on the stage following the concert at 8 p.m.  and a fireworks display will follow at 8:15 p.m. Check out a live feed from Aspen Snowmass here.
