Terrell Owens returns to the Superstars to face skiers Bode Miller & Kristi Leskinen
In a strange twist, Terrell Owens and Joanna Krupa are back in the Superstars (on ABC) mix much to the chagrin of the other competitors. Due to an injury suffered by Jennifer Capriati, the team of Capriati and David Charvet could not continue on leaving an opening for T.O. and Joanna to return. The elimination of team Owens-Krupa was a shocker last week since they were early favorites to win it all because T.O. is regarded as the best athlete on the show. Or is he?
Our money is on the team of Kristi Leskinen and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Kristi is clearly the best female athlete on the Superstars. Her X Games and freestyle training definitely shows; she's pretty ripped. On these coed matchups, it's usually the team with the best female competitor that excels. Her partner Maks, of Dancing with the Stars fame, is not a bad athlete himself. Combined they make the best team.
Don't count out the team of Bode Miller and Paige Hemmis however. Bode is an excellent athlete and may even be better than T.O. all around. For example, Bode finished a close second to Terrell in the Sand Dash when running head to head. And Bode is ever the tactician as demonstrated by his false start strategy and deciding to relinquish his team to third place to save energy knowing that they couldn't beat the other two teams in the sprint. The mental part of this competition is likely where victory lies. Plus Bode's experience in this game, having won the Superstars in 2002 against other top athletes in their respective sports, gives their team an added advantage. His partner Paige Hemmis, from ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, holds her own against the other female celebs.
So you've heard it here first on The Ski Channel...Kristi Leskinen and Maksim Chmerkovskiy will win the Superstars 2009 competition. If not, then it will be Bode Miller and Paige Hemmis. Either way one of the teams with a skier will win it. After all, skiers have had a pretty good track record on the Superstars recently. Tune in here next week for an update.
