The Top Ten Ski Towns For Singles


 

Whistler/Blackcomb, Canada:

The wet winters bring everyone inside for hard-core après ski. Of course, the proximity to Vancouver, where folks are somehow oddly and extraordinarily attractive doesn’t hurt! The Garibaldi Lift Bar and Grill in Whistler Village and Merlin's in Blackcomb are two popular après ski haunts. Get there during next year's Olympics and you're sure to meet folks from all over the world.

 

Other highlights:

The skiing. Duh! Plus, several of the chairlifts have hoods, which keep you dry and allow for quieter canoodling.

For dancing: The Savage Beagle is classic for attracting the young, beautiful set.

For pool and grub: The Longhorn Saloon and Grill has solid pub fare, packed pool tables and a heated outdoor patio.

For the more upscale set: The Mallard Lounge and Terrace, located in the Fairmont Chateau Whistler has that cozy, romantic library feel that transcends time. That and a full menu of solid scotches, cognacs and martinis.

This is a really great top ten list, Aspen has the be the sure bet for #1, the nightlife there is so much fun. I also had a great time up in Whistler. No way on Aspen. I grew up there. It is dead as a doornail. Mammoth Mountain is the best for sure. The Laka Nuki is like you are at a college bar in the best college town. There is nothing better.

I would have to agree with Aspen as #1. Also whoever did this top ten list may have never been in half of these ski towns.... First off, 6 months out of the years, Jackson Hole is as dead as the Elk in the middle of the road up there. The Ski Bar is the worst bar in Vail, no contest, and why would the The Gold Pan not be a highlighted bar for Breck?? Have you ever been in Breck?? Killington, VT is the "family" ski resort of the US, sorry. I would scrap this article and have someone who knows ski towns rewrite it.... Awesome ski town picks, bad article.

I completely agree with Ono and Vince--Aspen is #1 for singles. After living in Jackson Hole, Ogden, UT, Vail, North Tahoe, and Aspen, I can attest to that. All of these towns have great benefits on and off-slope. Maybe write a blog about the towns that would have the highest risk of being snowed in, and heaven forbid, cancelling a flight home due to powder!

Vail is the choice for me, because I live in Vail. I have great times everywhere I go. When traveling I always meet locals willing to give me a clue, besides getting local hook-ups from friends who have contacts at my travel destinations. My Vail top 10 are, Vendetta's, Samana, The Sandbar, The Tap Room, Bart & Yeti's, The Club,Pepi's, The Red Lion, The George, Cascade Lobby Bar. I must drink too much because I can name another dozen

yes indeed Vail is a "high"way town. The valley floor is 8150' with 12,000-14,000' peaks on four sides which is all National Forest and Wilderness Areas, leaving a one or two mile wide strip of valley floor to live on. The highway is the only way in or out, except for Flight for Life helicopters. http://www.vailcowboy.com/

Whistler and Aspen are so far ahead of the rest they create there own catagory. Aspen win by a nose because where could you get lucky and then when you wake up at her house in the morning she gives you the keys to the car and says bring it back when your done skiing today. AND we didn't even remember each others name. WOW !!

Not sure why The Rack, Sugarloaf access road, Maine, has a sign disparaging "hippies". They have supported the 'Loaf greatly since the 60's.

This list is great for ski resorts but unrealistic... I have been to all these resorts and lived in Tahoe for the past 10 years. If you are moving to a ski resort , make sure it is for the snow... not the ladies. Keep in mind that the odds are usually more like 7 guys to 1 girl in ski towns unless it is a holiday or spring break. "Tahoe is known for attracting an equal number of men and women" is complete hooie!
