Dancing with the Stars shocker: Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin out, snowboarder Louie Vito in
Last night there were likely collective "NOOOO's" across the country, as Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer Natalie Coughlin was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars. The sexy swimmer was initially favored to be one of the top-three contenders, but Coughlin's paso doble with partner Alec Mazo fell short with the judges and viewers.
The good news is that U.S. Team snowboarder Louie Vito is still in the running for the coveted DWTS crystal globe! Whether the glistening trophy is a precursor to an Olympic gold medal in the half-pipe event matters not. (Well, it does matter. We're looking forward to seeing Vito shred the pipe at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver.) Either way, Vito's dancing skills under the the guidance of partner Chelsie Hightower are continually improving. (After all, Vito is an elite athlete. But score one for the snowboarders, here. Coughlin is a superhero athlete as well, but much like what was shown by skiers Bode Miller and Kristi Leskinen in The Superstars this summer, the winter athletes have got it going on.)
Still, Vito likely has loads of fan support (keep it coming!) as some say he and NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin are the two worst dancers left on the show. Regardless, the two athletes still made the top ten, and as singer Aaron Carter was the other star in last night's bottom two, it looks like Vito will be sticking around.
