Lindsey Vonn reflects on the last 100 days before the Vancouver Winter Olympics

                             

As we mentioned a bit earlier, Lindsey Vonn has returned to her home town of Vail to train for the slalom races in Levi, Finland coming up on November 14th. Some journalists caught up with her yesterday to see how she was feeling about everything and how she feels about the Vacouver Winter Olympics only being 100 days away!

In her training right now, Lindsey's focus is on finding the right skis to use. "It's been a little tough (testing skis), because snow conditions in Europe weren't very good in October and I didn't get a lot of practice on injection. Now in Vail, it's perfect. I'm just trying to find the exact model and race setup I want," she said. "So far, it's going really well. I'm probably like a seven or eight on a slalom (readiness) setup. I'm trying to fine-tune and get all the time out of the skis and boots. It will be great prep for Levi."

As far as the upcoming Games, Lindsey feels better about going to Whistler than she did about going to Torino back in 2006: "I'm really looking forward to racing on [the Whistler course]. It will be challenging. I love Whistler. When I was younger I always raced the Whistler Cup and I've been to Whistler many times. I feel a lot more at home at Whistler than I did, for example, in Torino. We had a World Cup (in Whistler) a little while ago. It's just a matter of having a good race plan and executing on race day."

Does she think it's unfair that the Canadian teams get more practice on the Olympic venue considering they're from Canada? "In ski racing, the home country has the advantage for the course because they're able to ski on it." Guess that's just part of the game.
