The greatest ever Doug Coombs inducted into U.S. Ski Hall of Fame
Doug Coombs, the Coomba, king of the steeps, countless first descents, Jackson Hole Air Force, two time World Extreme Skiing Champion, started Alaska's first heli-skiing operation, guide, mountaineer, master chess player, degree in geology, and probably the greatest skier ever.
Doug Coombs was inducted into the U.S. Ski Hall of Fame today, Friday. Coombs was revered as a hero and died one too. In La Grave, France, Coombs slipped and fell over a cliff that his friend Chad VanderHam had just plunged over.
Coombs is joined in this year's class by Paul Robins, Jack Benedick, Chris Waddell, Sarah Will, Stu Campbell, Sepp Kober and Ansten Samuelstuen.
