Balloon Boy sheriff won't be charged, should celebrate at Breckenridge
The sheriff from the Balloon Boy debacle will not face criminal charges after running his mouth to the media about the Heene family -- and speaking about the county sending their Child Protective Services team to investigate Richard and Mayumi Heene following their hoax.
The Heene's attorney had argued that Sheriff Jim Alderden broke Colorado law, which forbids officials from discussing details of a family investigation publicly.
Although Sheriff Alderden referenced that the Department of Social Services had become involved, he released no data or information found in a Social Services report, nor leaks any identifying information from records or reports of child abuse.
As a result, no criminal charges will be filed.
With nearby Breckenridge Resort opening Thursday with free pancakes, we believe Sheriff Alderden should escape to the resort for a few days of skiing. Maybe he can even work on his tricks by hitting the three park jumps available for opening day.
