Deer Valley ski resort recognized for its stellar food
Julie Wilson is the Director of Food and Beverage for the Deer Valley Ski Resort. Both she and the resort were recently awarded the Utah Restaurant Association (URA) Golden Spoon Restaurateur of the year award. Ms. Wilson is only the second woman to ever win this award.
An Awards Committee of the URA nominates the awardees, and here's what they had to say about Wilson: “She is one of the major reasons that Deer Valley has received the honor of best resort in the country, or maybe the world. Julie's enthusiasm for ‘fine food’ and ‘fun food’ is revealed in the many amazing restaurant concepts at Deer Valley, where we know she prides herself in setting the example for her team. Julie is definitely one of the treasures of the restaurant industry.”
Here's her response: “I am completely surprised and profoundly honored to have received this award. However, it is imperative that I accept this award for all of the food and beverage staff at Deer Valley. It’s a wonderfully talented group of people, many of whom have also been working at the resort for decades. We’re able to create the fresh, innovative fare that our guests love because we get support from management to be creative, educate ourselves and strive to be our best, every day.”
