Copper Mountain and Thanksgiving is like turkey and stuffing

Copper celebrates the season of giving thanks with exciting events. For those looking to work off the extra turkey and stuffing, enjoy the 8^th annual Leftover Yam Jam on Fri., Nov. 27 and the 6^th annual Gobbler Chase 5K Snowshoe Race on Sat., Nov. 28. In addition, families will enjoy the first En Fuego of the season, where Santa and his elves skydive into the Village at Copper on Sat., Nov. 29 from 4 – 7 p.m.

Don’t miss the first rail jam of the season! Copper is offering skiers and riders a free event to work off extra holiday pounds by competing in the 8^th annual Leftover Yam Jam at Copper on Fri., Nov. 27. The Yam Jam will take place in the American Eagle Jib Park, located at the top of the American Eagle lift and is open to both men and women, professional and amateur, snowboarders and skiers. Helmets are required for all participants. Registration is located in the Woodward at Copper Cage in Village Square from 9-10 a.m. Friday morning. The competition starts at 11 a.m. with the skiers and continues at Noon for the snowboarders, with an awards ceremony following. Prizes include: cash, Experience Copper gift cards, Woodward at Copper swag - hoodies, tees, and bandanas - and snowboards. In addition, all top-3 finishers receive a free Woodward at Copper One Hit Wonder Session. Competitors will be judged by members of the Copper Pro Freeride Team on style and tricks, in a jam-type format.

Get out of the tryptophan coma, grab your snowshoes and walk, trot or run to Copper’s 6^th annual Gobbler Chase 5K snowshoe race on Sat., Nov. 28. All proceeds from the race will go toward the employee-driven Copper Environmental Foundation, supporting youth environmental and education projects in the community. All race participants plan to meet in Burning Stones Plaza at the Race Registration tent prior to the start of the race at 11 a.m. The 5K course layout will take participants toward Union Creek, through the beautiful Copper wilderness on the Colorado Trail, and eventually back into Burning Stones Plaza*. Day-of registration is available on-site at Copper in Burning Stones Plaza at the Gobbler Chase tent from 9 - 10:45 a.m. for only $25.

Two great Copper traditions merge on Sat., Nov. 28 from 4-7 p.m.…En Fuego and Skydiving Santa lighting the Copper holiday tree. Copper heats up the night for the first En Fuego of the season in the Village at Copper, with a free street party the whole family will enjoy. Copper is literally on fire with En Fuego, featuring bonfires scattered throughout the village to keep children’s hands toasty warm, a BMX stunt show that will both amaze and amuse, the Ski & Ride School torchlight parade where hundreds of instructors ski down the mountain in a snake-like figure, fireworks over the mountain and the grand finale - Santa and his elves skydiving* into the village to light the Copper holiday tree! After all, En Fuego is Spanish for an epic Saturday night.
