Freestyle aerialists off to China as mogul skiers compete today in Finland

The World Cup Freestyle season has officially begun!

Today the mogul skiers bump up Finland in Suomu. The resort is hosting an extra event for both men and women, to replace the cancelled Méribel (FRA) World Cup. (Check back at the Ski Channel for results! U.S. Freestyle Ski Team stars Nate Roberts, Pat Deneen, Mike Morse and Emiko Torito are all gunning for the podium, as is 2002 Olympic silver medalist Shannon Bahrke.

Meanwhile, the aerialists of the world are off to China for their first World Cup event. Emily Cook, Jeret Speedy Peterson and Ryan St. Onge are all favored to perform.

Later this month the athletes will return to the U.S. for the Gold Cup, to be held at Steamboat, CO on Dec. 23. There the athletes will compete for a berth to the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver.
