Balloon Boy parents must pay large fine, will be sentenced tomorrow
You all remember the balloon boy don't you? You know, back in October when Fort Collins, Colorado residents Richard and Mayumi Heene pretended their son, Falcon, got caught in their man-made balloon and floated away? They were hoping to get a reality show out of it. Instead, they were slapped with a $42,000 fine. They're awaiting a formal sentencing tomorrow.
The Heenes' lawyer, David Lane, says they'll pay only when they can see that the damage they cause actually cost 42 grand. "Let's see the bills," he said. "They're not paying anything until they see some receipts. If they've got records to show these are legitimate costs, then we can discuss it. But, first off, these people don't have that kind of money."
Stay tuned to theskichannel.com to see what their sentence will be.
