The Ski Channel's "Shane & the McConkeys" to premiere at X-Dance Thursday night
The Ski Channel's "Shane & the McConkeys" will make its premiere at X-Dance, the biggest action sports film festival celebrating its 10th year. It's a huge year for X-Dance with Warren Miller, Shaun White, surf legend Rob Machado, and extreme skier Scot Schmidt all attending the Salt Lake festivities.
"Shane & the McConkeys" screens Thursday night (Jan. 21) at 6:55pm and is immediately followed by Bill Kerig's incredible film, The Edge of Never.
The Ski Channel's Zeke Piestrup shot, edited, directed, and produced the 16-minute short film. Piestrup was with McConkey last March for four days in Olympic Valley. A week later, McConkey died in Italy while shooting for Matchstick Productions.
"I feel incredibly lucky and fortunate to have been with Shane McConkey last March," says Piestrup. "The film is a snapshot in time of a family man pursuing his passions. Shane McConkey is a straight-up legend and hero. With the film, I definitely wanted to do right by Shane, and I think I did. I'm very proud of the film."
Tickets for the screening can be purchased online here. For a complete schedule of films, click here to check the X-Dance website.
