Much of the country will be covered in snow this weekend

A significant snow storm is expected to touch down on much of the eastern part of the country this weekend, though the west coast will feel some love too.

In the east, by Saturday night more than a foot of snow should hit Baltimore and Washington D.C. Philadelphia is expecting 6 to 12 inches and Delaware Bay and northern Chesapeake Bay could get two feet.

Additionally, New York City and Long Island could get 3 to 6 inches.

Right now, this north-easterly-moving system is hitting parts of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia.

Out west, California has been getting rain in the north, and the system will move south this weekend, giving SoCal ski resorts like Bear Mountain, Mountain High and Snow Summit some fresh pow. The Lake Tahoe region is also expecting good snow.

If you're in an area that's getting snow this weekend and want to take advantage of it, make sure to check out The Ski Channel's brand new Resort Rater to find the nearest ski resort to you.
