Ted Ligety wins World Cup giant slalom title, Carlo Janka wins overall

Yes Ted Ligety! To make a somewhat disappointing season much more memorable, Ted Ligety clinched the World Cup giant slalom title today by finishing in a tie for third place at the final GS of the season. He had to finish in the top three to clinch it, so he just barely did it!

Carlo Janka won the race today, and in doing so, pretty much wrapped up the overall title for himself as well.

Ted admits to making mistakes during the run, but apparently many racers made errors today, so it all balanced out. "I made mistakes", he said, "but so did many guys".

Mistakes were apparent when Marcel Hirscher was disqualified and Massimilliano Blardone skied into last place (they were some of Ted's strongest competition). Benjamin Raich, one of Carlo's biggest rivals, finished 11th. Though he put up the second fastest second run time, it was not good enough to move into contention.

While Davide Simoncelli got second for the day and Carlo won, Carlo was still 71 points behind Ted on the GS standings.
