Ski lifts reopen after wind gusts closed them

If you went to Steamboat Springs for some skiing or snowboarding this past weekend, you had a bummer of a time. You got there only to see that due to 70mph winds, the lifts were closed. This wasn't the case all weekend, but on Sunday, the lifts were closed until about 11:45 a.m. when two lower-mountain lifts were opened. Others opened later in the day.

Because the folks at Steamboat are considerate and accommodating, they kept lifts and a gondola running for about an extra hour to compensate for the closures earlier in the day.

This week calls for much calmer winds, as forecasters don't expect there to be any problems with Steamboat or other nearby resorts. The next few days call for mostly sunny and clear weather for Steamboat Springs.
