Charlie Sheen cops plea deal, no Aspen jail sentence
Charlie Sheen won't serve any time in the confines of an Aspen jail, as the "Two and a Half Men" star avoided doing any hard time today by pleading guilty to an assault charge related to his Christmas 2009 domestic dispute with wife Brooke Mueller Sheen at a rented Aspen home.
Sheen entered the guilty plea today in Pitkin County court and was sentenced to 30 days of rehab at Promises Treatment Center in Malibu. However, because Sheen has already been treated at Promises rehab after his arrest, the actor will simply check in and out of the facility as he has been granted credit for the more than a month he has already served. In addition to the rehab, Sheen will face 30 days probation and be required to attend 36 hours of anger management classes. Felony charges of menacing and criminal mischief were dropped as part of his guilty plea.
The newest plea deal marks a big victory for Sheen, as the television star was ready to accept the Aspen District Attorney's plea deal that would have placed the actor in jail for 30 days, and offered a work release program. However, that plea option was revoked at the last minute as he was deemed ineligible for the work release, forcing both sides back to the drawing board.
