Dew Tour confirmed: Shaun White to skate at Salt Lake City stop
Normally when Olympian Shaun White heads to Salt Lake City it's not exactly considered breaking news - owning a Park City home and serving as a Park City All Star will make visits to Utah seem ordinary, even for someone of White's superstar status.
However, White's upcoming appearance is grabbing headlines as he will soon be returning to Utah for an entirely different reason; Dew Tour organizers have confirmed his entrance into the upcoming Salt Lake City Dew Tour stop. The two-time Olympic gold medalist will compete in the event's skateboard vert contest on September 16-19 where he hopes to secure his second Dew Tour victory in a row.
White won the Dew Tour skate vert finals in Portland on August 15, narrowly edging out veteran skater Bucky Lasek and X Games 16 champion Pierre Luc-Gagnon. Unveiling a new signature trick, the "Armadillo," White took the victory in his first appearance back on the Dew Tour since 2008.
Recap Shaun White's Portland Dew Tour win.
Shaun White currently sits in 9th place overall for the 2010 tour rankings, which is likely to keep him out of the running for the coveted Dew Cup, given to the Tour's overall points champion.
The Dew Tour, unlike its winter counterpart, is comprised of five tour stops with the Salt Lake City event marking the fourth event of the year. The fifth and final stop will be the Dew Tour Championships in Las Vegas in October.
