Nature Valley First Tracks 2012-13 Team

Get pumped Coloradans as the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup action comes to Aspen this weekend!

All eyes will be on young star Mikaela Shiffrin along with veterans Julia Mancuso and potentially Lindsey Vonn when the Nature Valley Aspen Winternational heads to Colorado at the historic ski town this Thanksgiving weekend with a pair of Audi FIS Alpine World Cup tech races. Vonn, who was hit last week with a stomach illness, returned to gate training late last weekend, but remains day-to-day on whether she’ll start in Aspen. Mancuso has been training in Colorado since early November and placed third in the Aspen giant slalom last season. Shiffrin carries momentum from a third place slalom finish two weeks ago in Finland. The event also marks the World Cup return of Resi Stiegler, who tore her ACL at the March World Cup Finals. NBC and NBC Sports Network will carry TV coverage from Aspen beginning at 1pm ET on November 25 with the second run of slalom airing live on NBC Sports Network at 3pm ET.

The starters for the Giant Slalom are Julia Mancuso, Mikaela Shiffrin, Julia Ford, Megan McJames and Abby Ghent. The Slalom starters will be Mancuso, Shiffrin, Ford, Resi Stiegler, Hailey Duke and Paula Moltzan. This event will mark the first World Cup starts for both Ghent and Moltzan.

Look out for yet another strong outing by teen star Mikaela Shiffrin as she has placed in the Top 10 in all five World Cup events she has participated in, including two podium appearances in Slalom skiing in Aspen last year (2011).
