Sugarloaf Opens Summit This Weekend

First a few facts about the only monosyllabic U.S. State.  Maine is the number one exporter of blueberries and toothpicks, hosts 62 lighthouses, and its residents are the first to greet a new day’s sunlight.  However, the sunlight has been MIA, as two feet of fresh snow has fallen over the past week.  This has allowed Sugarloaf to open the mountain’s summit for the coming weekend. “We’ve been extremely blessed with great early season snowfall, and the offseason upgrades we made to our snowmaking system have allowed us to be more aggressive during the early stages of the season,” said Rich Wilkinson, Sugarloaf’s Vice President of Operations. “All of the factors combined have enabled us to expand our terrain faster than we ever have before.”  Add in the resort’s full-size terrain park in the Stomping Grounds plus parts of its eastern bowl, and Sugarloaf will have some 70 trails open for the weekend.  Pack some blueberries and toothpicks, it’s going to be a fun weekend.
